Hello to our fellow BATB fans,
The candles are burning in the workshop of the Wintercandlemakers as the planning begins for Winterfest Online 2011. The dates for the next WFOL will be January 29 - February 6, 2011. Please note that these dates fall neither on Vincent's birthday nor on Valentine's Day. Check your calendar for holiday possibilities. <G>
WFOL has been and will always be a buffet. The more "dishes" you bring to share, the more sumptuous the meal. Whether you can prepare a simple appetizer, a main entrance or a sinfully decadent dessert, we have a place for it on the table in the Great Hall. Variety is the spice of life and it is equally true for WFOL. So please think about bringing something to our Beast Feast. In the weeks to come, if you need a little help, we will be offering suggestions on how you can contribute.

Hallo liebe BATB Fans,
die Kerzen brennen wieder im Workshop der Wintercandlemakers seit die Planungen für das Winterfest Online 2011 begonnen haben. Das nächste WFOL findet vom 29. Januar bis 6. Februar 2011 statt. Achtung: dieser Zeitraum fällt weder auf Vincents Geburtstag noch auf Valentinstag. Prüft eure Kalender auf mögliche Urlaubstermine.
WFOL war und wird immer ein "Buffet" sein. Je mehr "Speisen" ihr mit uns teilt, desto üppiger wird das "Mahl". Ob ihr einen einfachen "Appetitanreger", einen "Hauptgang" oder ein "sündhaft köstliches Dessert" bereiten könnt, auf dem Tisch in der Großen Halle haben wir einen Platz dafür. Vielfalt ist die Würze des Lebens und das gilt ebenso für das WFOL. Also denkt bitte darüber nach, ob ihr etwas zu unserem "Beast Fest" beisteuern könnt.
In den kommenden Wochen, falls ihr etwas Hilfe benötigt, werden wir Vorschläge machen, wie ihr etwas beisteuern oder mitwirken könnt.

Big. Small. Serious. Funny. Thought provoking. Light-hearted. Simple. Complicated. All you need is a little imagination.
Just for fun, here's our top 10 list of silly things to submit to Winterfest:
1. An essay on why Vincent's feet are or are not furry 2. An epic poem written in Mouse-speak 3. A list of the most unusual things that might be found at the bottom of the Abyss 4. A recipe for chocolate cheese nuggets 5. A sonnet for Vincent to read to Catherine in the style of Dr. Seuss 6. Catherine's favorite patterns for braiding Vincent's hair 7. The twelve most unusual books in Father's library 8. The opening statement in Vincent's trial (supposing he ever got arrested) 9. A limerick's in Elliot's native language (wasn't he Polish?) 10. A pipe code to English dictionary
Whether you're an old hand and can find your way to the Great Hall blindfolded or you are brand new to the tunnels and you need someone to take your hand and "lead you through the dark," please consider bringing something to share when you join us for our celebration.
To our webmasters, we are looking for volunteers to help us with our Treasure Hunt. The Treasure Hunt is always a favorite activity at Winterfest Online and we can't do it without your participation. It's great fun as well as a nice way to advertise your site. So please drop us a line. Don't be afraid to give it a try. We'll help you in any way we can.

Ob du nun ein alter Hase bist, der seinen Weg zur Großen Halle blind finden kann oder ein Tunnelneuling, der an die Hand genommen wird, um "durch die Dunkelheit geführt zu werden" :D, überlege einfach, ob du irgendwas mitbringen kannst, was du mit uns teilen möchtest, wenn du unsere Feier besuchst.
An unsere Webmaster: wir suchen Freiwillige, die uns bei der Schatzjagd helfen. Die Schatzjagd ist eine der beliebtesten Aktivitäten beim Winterfest Online, aber wir können diese nicht ohne eure Teilnahme durchführen. Es macht großen Spaß und ist außerdem noch ein netter Weg, für eure Webseite zu werben. Bitte schreibt uns an. Habt keine Angst es zu versuchen. Wir werden euch helfen so gut wir können.

Hello Fellow Fans,
Our third candle comes to you full of thanks, requests, and opportunities.
To all of you who have sent contributions to WFOL…THANK YOU! Your “dishes” add spice and variety to our banquet table. To those of you who are working on their submissions…WAY TO GO! We await them with great anticipation. To the rest of our fellow tunnel dwellers…PLEASE consider cooking up something to share at our feast. And to help you get started, here are a few ideas.
There is nothing more intrinsic to fandom than fan fiction. Yet the shelves in our WFOL library are almost bare! <Collective gasp!> Don’t let this WF be the WF without a story or a moment or two to read while relaxing in the library.
Our listening chamber is in need of voices: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German….well, you get the picture. Send us an audio recording of you reading a favorite poem or passage of a book that captures the feelings of BATB. Or read one of your favorite scenes from an episode in your native language and send it to us. How fun would it be to hear Mouse speaking in French. <G> Many scripts can be found here on the BATB Scripts and Transcription Project.
Crafts were probably a favorite pastime in the tunnels. Share with us your crafting creations by sending us a jpg of your project and any descriptions you would like to include.
And finally, take a moment to watch this year’s WFOL ad. Winterfest is all about community: connecting, sharing and having fun!

unsere 3. Kerze kommt zu Euch, gefüllt mit Dank, Bitten und Möglichkeiten.
An alle, die Beiträge fürs WFOL gesendet haben ...VIELEN DANK! Eure "Speisen" bringen Würze und Abwechselung auf unseren Banketttisch. An diejenigen, die an ihren Beiträgen arbeiten ... MACHT WEITER! Wir erwarten sie voller Vorfreude. An die restlichen unserer Tunnelgefährten ... BITTE überlegt, ob ihr etwas zusammenbasteln könnt, um es mit uns beim Fest zu teilen. Und um euch auf die Sprünge zu helfen, sind hier einige Ideen.
Es gibt nichts, das mehr zu einer Fangemeinschaft gehört, als Fanfiktions. Noch sind die Regale in unserer WFOL Bücherei fast leer! <großer Seufzer!> Lasst dieses WF kein WF ohne eine Geschichte oder einen Moment oder zwei zum Lesen sein, während ihr in der Bücherei relaxed.
Unsere "Abhörkammer" (Listening Chamber) braucht Stimmen: Englisch, Spanisch, Französisch, Italienisch, Deutsch ..., nun, habt ihr's verstanden, seid ihr im Bilde?! Lest uns ein Lieblingsgedicht oder einen Buchausschnitt vor, in dem die Gefühle für BATB eingefangen sind, und sendet uns eure Audio-Aufnahme zu. Oder sprecht eine eurer Lieblingsszenen einer Episode in eurer Muttersprache und sendet es zu uns. Es ist bestimmt lustig, Mouse französisch sprechen zu hören. :o) Viele Episodenskripte könnt ihr im "BATB Scripts and Trasnscription Projekt" finden.
Handwerkliche Tätigkeiten sind vermutlich ein beliebter Zeitvertreib in den Tunneln. Teilt eure Handwerksarbeiten mit uns, sendet uns ein Foto (jpg) eures Projektes mit Beschreibungen, die ihr angeben möchtet.
Und zum Schluss, nehmt euch einen Moment Zeit um euch die Werbung für's diesjährige WFOL anzusehen. Das Winterfest zeigt die Bedeutung von Gemeinschaft: Verbundenheit, Teilen und Spaß haben!

Also, you may want to join the WFOL yahoogroup. It's active just during Winterfest and closed the rest of the year. This is the best place to go to find out what's going on during Winterfest. You don't need to join the yahoogroup in order to read the messages or post, but you may certainly do so if you like (just don't try to post before January 29th).
Eine relative schnelle Internetverbindung ( Benutzer von Modem/Einwahlverbindungen müssen nicht verzweifeln, es gibt eine Menge Aktivitäten, die auch bei langsameren Internetverbindungen funktionieren)
Javascript und Cookies sollten ermöglicht sein (Falls ihr nicht wisst was das ist, macht euch keine Sorgen – wahrscheinlich sind sie sowieso ermöglicht)
Vielleicht möchtet ihr euch auch der yahoo-WFOL-Gruppe anschließen. Diese ist nur während des Winterfestes aktiv und den Rest des Jahres geschlossen. Dies ist der beste Platz, um herauszufinden, was im Winterfest so alles los ist. Ihr müsst der Gruppe nicht beitreten, um die Nachrichten dort zu lesen, aber ihr dürft es natürlich, wenn ihr mögt (vor dem 29. Januar kann allerdings nichts geschrieben werden).
